A. YES. When you place your order, you need to tell me if it is for outdoor display so I can put an outdoor finish on it.
Q. Are the carvings made so they will hang on the wall?
A. YES. All the carvings that can hang on the wall have a hidden slot cut on the back. Simply put in a nail and hang it like a picture.
Q. How are they shipped?
A. I ship UPS and insure the package for the value of the item. I also will ship via any other carrier you prefer.
Q. If I receive my carving and it is damaged, what should I do?
A. First, keep the package, then contact me. I do my best to package it so it will not be damaged, but things happen. I will contact the shipper and let you know what we need to do next. (I will replace the carving!)
Q. Are all you pieces hand done?
A. YES. I handcarve all my pieces. The tool marks give it that special look. Being done by hand, no two pieces come out exactly alike and each is a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Q. What kind of finish can I choose from?
A. Natural, antique, distressed, or gold leaf finish.
Q. How long will it take to get my carving?
A. This depends on a number of things.
If the carving you want is already made, it would be about a week.
If I need to carve it, it depends on how many people are ahead of you and what piece you want.
If it is a custom piece, I draw the pattern, you approve it, then I start carving it.
During our contact, I will give you an estimated time.
Q. What kind of wood do you use?
A. I use basswood for its ease of carving and its ability to take detail well.
Q. Do you do custom work ?
A. Yes, I do, but I limit it to those carvings I believe I can do with quality. (It is best to contact me to talk about what you have in mind.)
Q. How much will a custom carving cost?
A. I cannot determine the cost of a carving till I have all information, i.e. size, inside or outside display, type of carving, finish desired, etc. After all questions are answered, I will give a quoted price and estimated delivery time.
Q. Do you do chain saw carvings?
A. NO. I cut myself enough with my hand tools; I can’t imagine what I would do with a chain saw. (Plus I won’t let him! ~ Kathy)
